Sunshine Senior Counseling is a dedicated group of licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), licensed mental health counselors (LMHCs), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs), and psychologists providing high-quality mental health services for seniors, caregivers, and families throughout Florida.
We believe that successful therapy begins with the right fit. Every prospective client starts with a free consultation call, where our intake team listens carefully to understand their needs, personality, preferences, and goals. From there, we thoughtfully match each client with a clinician whose therapeutic approach, experience, and expertise align best with the client’s unique situation. This personalized matching process ensures that our clients feel comfortable, supported, and confident in the care they receive from the very first session.
Each treatment plan is then tailored to address challenges often faced later in life, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, caregiver stress, trauma, chronic illness, and early-stage Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
All Sunshine clinicians specialize in geriatric mental health and share a deep commitment to honoring the lived experiences, strengths, and resilience of older adults and their caregivers. Our services are available throughout the state of Florida via secure telehealth platforms (video), regular telephone sessions, and in-home visits, making care accessible, flexible, and compassionate.
Sunshine Senior Counseling was founded by Beth Davalos, MSW, LCSW-S, RPT-S, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Her extensive background includes work in private practice, hospitals, home health care, and school-based settings. Beth established Sunshine Senior Counseling in response to the growing need for specialized senior mental health services in Central Florida, where too many older adults were struggling to find accessible, empathetic care.
Beth’s advocacy and expertise have earned national recognition for her leadership in mental health and community care. She has been featured twice as an expert on 60 MINUTES and highlighted by major outlets including CBS, NBC, Spectrum News 13, and FOX 35 Orlando for her work in social justice and mental health access. Her commitment to service has also been recognized with the UMASS Amherst Award for Excellence in Social Work, the Florida International University (FIU) Distinguished Alumni Award, and as runner-up for Central Florida’s Floridian of the Year for her dedication to improving the lives of others.
“Our approach is one of warmth and respect. Our goal is to work collaboratively with our clients to identify solutions, enhance existing strengths, build new skills to overcome obstacles, and heal core conflicts that are the source of their struggles. Together we will determine a therapeutic course that will meet you, your caregiver, and/or your family's needs.”
